About Telecom Central

A specialist telecoms partner built on engineering expertise, honest advice and a genuine commitment to keeping your business connected.

Our story

Born from engineering, built on trust

Telecom Central began life as Helpdesk Communications, founded in 2009 by Dave Hamilton. The business started by buying and refurbishing redundant telecoms equipment, sourcing handsets and hardware from engineers, leasing companies and liquidators, and supplying maintenance spares to businesses across the UK.

Over the years, as the need for communication and connectivity evolved, so did we. Today, Telecom Central is a full-service workplace communications partner providing business telephone systems, broadband, Office WiFi and business mobile phones to organisations across the Midlands and beyond.

We’ve built a strong reputation as specialists working closely with Avaya, BT, Gamma, LG, Panasonic and Samsung, brands we install, configure and maintain for clients across every sector.

Midlands-based engineers

The Telecom Central difference

We’re not a faceless provider. We’re a local team of engineers who take the time to understand your business and recommend the right solution — then back it up with expert support.

Local engineers, personal service

Our engineers are based across the Midlands and respond quickly. You deal with real people who know your system, not a distant call centre.

Hands-on expertise

From a 25-year-old Panasonic to a cutting-edge Avaya IP Office, our engineers have seen it all and fixed most of it. We advise honestly, not just to make a sale.

Partners you can trust

Approved partners with Avaya, BT, Gamma, LG, Panasonic and Samsung — so we recommend the right system for your business, not the one we happen to stock.

Responsible & sustainable

We responsibly recycle all equipment removed from client sites, and have done since 2012. Doing the right thing for the environment is part of how we operate.

How we got here

From a one-man refurbishment operation to a full-service Midlands telecoms partner — over 15 years of growth, investment and expertise.

Where it all began

Dave Hamilton founded Helpdesk Communications, initially buying and refurbishing redundant telecoms equipment (handsets and hardware sourced from engineers, leasing companies and liquidators) and supplying maintenance spares to businesses. The same year, the company became an approved Panasonic systems dealer, opening the door to full telephone system installations.

Samsung partnership & growing team

As technology evolved at pace, Helpdesk Communications became an approved Samsung dealer, broadening the range of business telephone systems on offer. That same year the company appointed its 10th member of staff, a milestone reached through apprenticeship and driven by a significant increase in engineering work and accounts.

Responsible recycling commitment

A formal partnership with a specialist recycling company was established, ensuring that all handsets and equipment removed from client sites were responsibly disposed of and recycled. A commitment to being a sustainable, environmentally conscious organisation has been maintained ever since.

New Birmingham premises

Continued growth led to the acquisition of new premises in Witton, Birmingham, providing the storage facilities, testing areas and office space the expanding team needed to continue delivering high-quality service.

Avaya partnership

Becoming an Avaya partner was the natural next step, complementing existing Panasonic and Samsung capabilities and significantly extending the range of enterprise-grade communication solutions available to clients.

Mobile phones launch

With mobile technology increasingly central to business communications, the company launched a dedicated mobile phone offering, providing clients with handsets, contracts and bundles to sit alongside their existing telephone and communication systems.

Gamma partnership & rebrand

A new relationship with Gamma further extended the range of systems and connectivity solutions available. That same year the business rebranded as Telecom Central, reflecting its evolution from a refurbishment specialist into a full-service workplace communications partner.

Office WiFi & broadband

Recognising the shift to hosted telephone systems and the growing importance of reliable connectivity, Telecom Central introduced Office WiFi and business broadband to its service portfolio, completing the picture as a true one-stop communications provider.

Remote working & continued growth

As businesses adapted to new ways of working, Telecom Central focused its expertise on remote working solutions, helping clients stay connected and productive wherever their teams were based. A new recruitment drive expanded the engineering team to meet growing demand.

Growing the team & welcoming new clients

2022 saw further investment in people, expanding the engineering team with new talent to keep pace with growing demand. Telecom Central also welcomed a number of businesses seeking a new provider following changes in the local telecoms market, reinforcing the company’s reputation as a reliable, long-term partner.

Starlink satellite broadband

Telecom Central became a provider of Starlink business satellite broadband, bringing high-speed internet connectivity to sites where traditional fixed-line infrastructure falls short. From rural businesses and farms to remote warehouses and temporary sites, Starlink opened up a new class of connectivity solution for clients across the Midlands and UK.
